The City of Fairmont is alerting residents that a comprehensive quarterly water system line flushing will be conducted September 11 and 12.

The flushing will be conducted between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. both days. The flushing program will take place in all four water system zones.

Zone #1 includes the areas in and around Meadowdale, Colfax, Morgan Hill, White Hall, NASA, MCDC Industrial Park and Tri-County Public Service District.

Zone #2 includes the areas in and around Bellview, East Side, Barrackville, and Downtown.

Zone #3 includes the areas in and around Country Club Road, Watson, West Side, Benton's Ferry, and Pleasant Valley Road.

Zone #4 includes all of the 13 miles of water line to the City of Mannington. Officials said that this flushing is scheduled for September 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

While work is being performed, customers in the surrounding areas may experience low pressure, cloudy water, or an interruption of service.

Anyone who experiences low water pressure or discolored water should boil water before use until further notice.

Customers with no water should call the Water Treatment Plant at 304-366-1461. Officials said the city will not be responsible for any damage caused by discolored water.
