For the 16th consecutive year, more West Virginians collect a paycheck from Wal-Mart Associates, Inc. than any other private employer.

WorkForce West Virginia released its list of the 100 largest employers in the state Tuesday. The list was compiled from March 2013 data.

Businesses with both single and multiple locations were ranked, according to number of employees.

Rounding out the top five employers in W.Va. are West Virginia United Health System, Charleston Area Medical Center, Inc., Kroger, and Consolidation Coal Company.

Ranked No. 6 through 10 are: Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Lowe's Home Centers, St. Mary's Medical Center, The Mentor Network, and ResCare.

The top 20 employers of 2013 had a total of 1,683 more employees than the top 20 employers of 2012.

By county, 32 of 55 list their respective board of education offices as top employers locally.
