Another new building at West Virginia University broke ground Tuesday.

The university held a ceremony for the Art Museum of West Virginia. The new building will go up near the old Erickson Alumni Center beside the Creative Arts Center.

Art museums are a piece of pride in the Big 12. WVU is the only member currently without one.

Students said the museum offers an incredible learning experience.

"This is wonderful, as an art history student we take trips to Washington D.C. or Pittsburgh, or Cleveland to view art collections. But the chance to have these pieces here in person, and have our own museum that we can go to and do research on the works and collections, words don't explain how wonderful this is for students," said Mandie Guggenbiller, WVU graduate student.

The project is expected to be completed by next November.
