Four people were injured in a head-on collision in Harrison County Tuesday night.

Harrison County 911 said it happened around 6 p.m. on Route 18, near Hepzibah.

West Virginia State Police said Gary Stout of the Lumberport area was driving towards Clarksburg when a Ford Escape, driven by James Timothy Slater Jr., crossed the center line and struck his minivan head-on.

HeathNet landed at the Gore Transitional School to transport one person. HealthNet flew a male passenger, who was in the Ford Escape, to Ruby Memorial Hospital, according to state police.

James, Jeffrey, and Johnny Slater of Wetzel County were also in the Ford Escape. All three were taken by Harrison County EMS to United Hospital Center. The driver of the Escape was cited for traveling left of center and for not wearing a seatbelt, said state police.

Stout refused to be transported, but state police said he went to the hospital on his own.

Fire departments from Spelter and Lumberport also responded to the scene.
