Sistersville Tank Works, a manufacturer of heat exchanges, recently received the U.S. Commercial Service's Export Achievement Award because of its sales to South Korea.

Rep. David McKinley, R-W.Va., presented the award to Sistersville Tank Works at the Export University workshop that took place at West Liberty Unievrsity Highlands Center.

McKinley told attendees West Virginia sold $11.6 billion in goods and services to countries throughout the world.

Sistersville Tank Works representatives attended the U.S. Commercial Service's "Trade Winds Asia" event in South Korea last May, according to a news release, and met many potential customers along with connections in both the U.S. and Korean government agencies.

"The trip was exciting and showed us a great number of opportunities to expand into new markets," STW Manager Don Rush said in a news release. "Throughout the years, our dedication to producing top quality ASME vessels has never let us down.

"The ability to work closely with our friends at the U.S. Department of Commerce has been critical to allowing us the opportunity of a lifetime here."

STW shipped eight products to South Korea during the first months of 2013, which included seed addition drums, product hoppers and quench coolers, which totaled $2 million in export sales.
