WVU ROTC Cadets Participate in Annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

The West Virginia University Reserve Officer Training Corps honored the men and women who died on 9/11 Wednesday morning by posting a guard at the school's memorial.

Cadets placed a wreath at the memorial, near the Wise Library, at exactly 8:46 a.m. Wednesday.

The annual ceremony includes posting two cadets at the memorial itself while others patrol around the site.

Battalion Commander Brice Baldauff said the events of 9/11 have made our country much stronger.

"All of our lives have been affected by that, one way or another so, it tore our families apart, the event tore our families apart but yet it brought our country closer together so we have to pay homage to that," Baldauff said.

The WVU ROTC program has more than 200 cadets.

They serve four years as undergraduates and are commissioned as Second Lieutenants after they graduate.
