State police have released the names of those involved in the two-vehicle collision.
State police said Susan Ketchem, 55, was driving the vehicle that hydroplaned, then collided with a delivery truck.
Her daughter, Samantha Muncy, 27 of Philippi, was a passenger in the vehicle.
Muncy was first transported United Hospital Center but was transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital. She later died as a result of the injuries she received.
State police said Randolph County EMS, which was passing by when the accident occurred, assisted other first responders at the scene.
Harrison County sheriff's deputies also assisted at the scene.
West Virginia State Police are investigating an accident that happened on Interstate 79 in Harrison County Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened at approximately 2:47 p.m. at mile marker 119 near Bridgeport Hill.
State police said a tan car, driven by a woman, was driving northbound on I-79 when the car hydroplaned and collided with a delivery truck.
A female passenger in the car was transported to United Hospital Center. No one else was injured.
The Clarksburg Police Department, the Anmoore Fire Department, Anmoore EMS, the Clarksburg Fire Department, and the Harrison County EMS also responded to the scene.
