MORGANTOWN -

Milan Puskar Health Right said that 98 percent of its patient population is in need of dental care.

It cares for more than 2,000 people.

Health Right's program, 'Community Dental Partners,' is made for low income residents and helps to give care to some of those people.

Milan Puskar Health Right held its Dental Recognition Dinner Thursday evening for the local dentists and the WVU School of Dentistry who volunteer their time for this program.

The dentists volunteer their time, equipment, and even lab costs for the patients to get 100 percent free dental work. Their motto is helping "One smile at a time."

Health Right said the volunteers are important for the future. Dental coverage will not be included in the Affordable Care Act.

"The situation will remain the same even when patients get Medicaid or have health insurance. They will not have dental coverage," said Laura Jones, the executive director at Milan Puskar Health Right. "Dental care is one of the biggest unmet needs in the state of West Virginia. So, it's really important that we are able to help our patients."

Health Right also created a new program, 'Adopt a Smile.' The community can donate to the program through Health Right to help with lab fees and dental equipment.
