Johnstown Community Fair Celebrates 60th Year

Posted: Updated:

The 60th Annual Johnstown Community Fair was held on Saturday afternoon.

The fair included a car show, a petting zoo, a mechanical bull, games, crafts, and much more.

Country kitchen food was available all day with menu items like pork barbecue, homemade pie, potato salad, baked beans, and hot dogs.

There was also a cornhole tournament with a first place prize of $150.

Music was provided all day. Some of the featured acts were Blue Country, Union Valley Bluegrass, Grayson Samples, Josh Oldaker, and Ryan Cain & the Ables.

The fair also featured an auction, 50-50 drawings, and raffle tickets.

All of the proceeds from the fair will benefit something everyone in Johnstown can use: the community building.

"My 4-H club meets there, the Lions Club meets there, some church groups meet there, the ladies club, and anybody in the community or surrounding area that has a birthday party or anniversary they let them use it for free, it doesn't cost anything. Everybody benefits from the old building it's been around since the 1890's," said John Chapman, one of the chairmen of the fair.

The proceeds will go to help pay utilities, taxes, and anything else needed for the whole year.
