    Clarksburg City Council approved a second reading of the ordinance to acquire the Rose Garden Theater, Thursday night.
    Clarksburg City Council met Thursday night to discuss ‘The Robinson Grand Theater', also known as the ‘Rose Garden Theater', that the city plans to acquire. 

Pierpont Community and Technical College has worked on plans for an Advanced Technology Center for several years.

Now, it's ready to start construction.

Pierpont said it has awarded construction bids to several companies. Some of which are Nello Construction, FK Everest, AJD West Virginia, and Brewer & Company of WV, Inc.

The project is expected to cost more than $17 million.

"We got the lowest bid from several bidders in each area. Which again, allowed us to put four additional classrooms in the building. We are able to fund four classrooms and add our med lab technology program to the building as well," said Dr. Doreen Larson, Pierpont Community & Technical College President.

The building will be a part of the Interstate 79 Technology Park near White Hall.

"I think it's a perfect spot for it and I have to say I think the High Technology Consortium has been really a great partner in that. They actually donated the land for that facility," said Paul Schreffler, Pierpont Community & Technical College.

Pierpont said classes in the new building will begin in the fall of 2015.

It's also working on a shuttle to take students to and from Pierpont's main campus.

Work is expected to begin in October.
