The West Virginia Business and Industry Council recently announced the election of new officers to its Board of Directors.

Chris Hamilton, vice president of the West Virginia Coal Association, was elected chairman. Joe Letnaunchyn, CEO of the West Virginia Hospital Association was selected as first vice chairman. Mike Clowser, executive director of the Contractors Association of West Virginia, was elected second vice chairman. Sam Minardi, president of Minardi Public Affairs, was elected secretary/treasurer.

"BIC will continue its great tradition of working closely with policy makers to preserve the state's admirable fiscal condition, improve our legal climate and to develop a more stable and educated workforce," Hamilton said in a news release.

Hamilton said BIC also will work with Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, the state's Congressional delegation and state legislative leaders to fight over-regulation of energy industry by the federal EPA.

"Our state continues to suffer from the over-reach by the EPA and our manufacturing industries are hurting because of unreasonable federal environmental regulations," he said. "We are pleased to announce the election of our new leadership team, and we pledge to continue to aggressively press for improvement in the West Virginia business climate so that all our citizens can benefit."
