OMEGA Hosts Charity Golf Tournament for Make-A-Wish

More than 40 West Virginia children will soon see their wishes come true.

The Oil Marketers and Grocers Association, or OMEGA, held a benefit golf tournament and awards banquet Wednesday morning at Stonewall Resort.

It was the conclusion to OMEGA's month long effort to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

One child has already received his wish, in the form of a four legged friend.

"We had a child come last night to thank our group on behalf of all the children and his wish was to have a service dog and that dog is now in training and it's wonderful because this dog will be able to tell when he doesn't feel good and be by his side all of the time," said Jan Vineyard, of OMEGA.

OMEGA has raised more than $160,000 with Wednesday's tournament and with its effort selling $1 stars at places like Go-Mart and BFS foods.

According to its website, since 2003, OMEGA members have raised nearly $1.6 million for charities that improve the health, safety and wellbeing of children in West Virginia.

OMEGA is affiliated with several children's charities in West Virginia, including Children's Miracle Network, YMCA After School Programs, and Children's Home Society.
