Belington's Fall Festival Holds Second Day of Celebrations

BELINGTON -

Belington's inaugural fall festival wrapped up on Sunday.

On Saturday rain dampened the mood but residents came out to enjoy some dry weather, and some barbeque chicken on Sunday.

The Belington Fire Department hosted a chicken cook along with a car show as part of fall fest.

The money raised from the barbeque will go to help the fire department.

"It goes to cover the operating expenses of the fire department. We have a chicken barbeque dinner with a half a chicken. You get a drink, you get a side, and some chips all for just $8. It's a good fundraiser for the fire department and good for the community. They look forward to our chicken cooks," explained Phil Hart with the Belington Fire Department.

Hart said the fire department hosts chicken barbeques a few times a year and it is always bringing in a large crowd.

The car show featured a large number of cars and trucks from several decades.

Animal Friends of Barbour County hosted some games for the kids, face painting, and had dog Halloween costumes on sale.

Hart said this was the first year for Belington's Fall Festival but it will become a tradition every year after this one.
