Fairmont Police are investigating a recent rash of burglaries in some west side neighborhoods and they're asking residents to keep careful watch, too.
Police said the burglars have kicked in doors while neighbors are home, stealing high-value items small enough to fit in a backpack or duffle bag.
Police are asking that residents to look out for any suspicious activity and call 911 or 304-366-4200 if they see or know anything that can help.
The Fairmont Police Department is alerting residents to a pattern of burglaries that have occurred in the Fairmont area recently, particularly around Fairmont Senior High School.
The police department said there have been several instances of forceful burglaries in which a man or men have forcibly entered into homes and stolen high-value small items that can easily be carried from the scene.
The police department has received varying descriptions of the burglars, and it asks that suspicious activity be reported immediately to 911 or city police at 304-366-4200. Police ask that residents provide a detailed description of the burglar or burglars, as well as where they may be going.
