A man convicted of first degree arson in connection with burning down his former Laurel Valley home in May 2012 was sentenced in Harrison County court Monday.

Judge J. Lewis Marks, Jr. sentenced Raymond T. Mcintire, 33, of Clarksburg to 12 years in prison. Judge Marks ordered Mcintire to pay for court costs and restitution to victims, totaling more than $42,500. Mcintire will receive credit for time served. Mcintire's attorney requested for an alternative sentencing. Judge Marks determined that it wasn't appropriate due to the nature of the crime.

Harrison County Sheriff Albert Marano said Mcintire had lived in the house. Mcintire had a domestic violence hearing in Harrison County Family Court on May 7, 2012 where he lost custody of the house, according to the criminal complaint. Mcintire told witnesses that he didn't want his children in the area anymore. McIntire later pleaded guilty to first degree arson.
