The Upshur County Sheriff's Department arrested a man on a meth-related charge on Saturday.

Deputies charged Jamie Sothen, 22 of Volga, with one count of operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab.

A deputy was patrolling the park in Pringle Tree around 12:30 a.m. when Sothen's truck was noticed, according to the criminal complaint. Sothen said he was having car troubles, according to a criminal complaint. Sothen was unable to provide a driver's license and the deputy noticed a smell of burnt marijuana, which prompted Sothen to admit to having a pipe and several needles in the car, according to a criminal complaint.

Sothen became agitated and hysterical, the criminal complaint said, so he was placed in handcuffs while deputies searched the vehicle.  Chemicals used to make meth and two West Virginia license plates were found in the truck, which looked to have been tampered with, the criminal complaint said.

Sothen was taken to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail. Bail is set at $125,000.
