CLARKSBURG -

The pool at the YMCA in Clarksburg was filled with swimmers on Sunday for the 12th annual Clarksburg Classic.

YMCA swim teams from around the area came to compete in various events including the back stroke and freestyle.

One of the coaches of the Clarksburg YMCA swim team said the invitational is a great way for the swimmers to push themselves and work harder, but also a great way to showcase the "Y."

"It's a huge opportunity for us both fundraising for YMCA and for our swim team, and also for our area kids to have exposure to see where they're at early in the season. It's a gauge to get kids from Pennsylvania and Ohio to come in and see where they're at," said Patrick Snell, a coach for the Clarksburg YMCA team.

The youngest swimmer in the Clarksburg Classic was five years old, and the swimmers could be up to 18 years old.

Earlier this week the YMCA revealed a new scoreboard, and pool side bleachers.

The Clarksburg Classic showcased those new items.

The YMCA pool isn't only used for swim meets and practices, but also for classes that can help children.
