SALEM -

On Wednesday, a couple in Salem got married, but it wasn't a typical ceremony.

It was held at the Genesis Salem Center, a skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation facility.

The bride is a resident there. Kathryn Ann Suter married her fiancé at the center, followed by a reception.

It was Suter's wish to get married, and the staff made it happen for her in just a few days.

"All my friends and family is here and I wanted them to be included in this special day. I loved everything, they did a wonderful job," said Suter.

Suter's husband, Kurt Suter, said he waited almost 25 years to marry his best friend.

"I'm just now catching up, I should have done this long ago," explained Kurt Suter.

The reception was held in the activities center.

It included classic wedding features: a first dance, the cutting of the cake, and a sparkling grape juice toast.

Fellow residents, staff members, and Suter's family and friends all attended the ceremony.

Diana Czako planned the wedding, and said the staff wanted to make the day special for the Suters.

"Ann and I have developed a special bond, and we're together a lot. I was very happy for both of them," said Czako.

The Salem Florist provided the flowers for the wedding and a Brides Best Friend decorated.
