The Upshur County Commission approved financing two new police cruisers for its sheriff's department.

The vehicles will replace two older models that Sheriff Dave Coffman said have high mileage.

The vehicles will run around $28,000 each. They are presently being equipped with lights and radio equipment.

Coffman said his goal has been to always keep his officers safe.

"These guys are out there at all hours of the night, answering all types of calls. Of course they don't run those cruisers like the normal person would, a lot of times its high speed and we got to make sure there safe for the officers," Sheriff Coffman said.

Coffman said the vehicles should arrive within the next couple of weeks.
