American Red Cross Teaches Cheat Lake Elementary to use Pillow Cases in Emergency

Posted: Updated:

When Hurricane Katrina happened, the American Red Cross noticed college students were able to get their belongings and get to safety quickly, all because of pillow cases.

The Red Cross took that idea and teaches it to students around the country with disaster preparedness.

Cheat Lake Elementary School third grade students learned what to do in serious situations like a fire, tornado, or even a hurricane.

The students also received some Red Cross pillowcases to pack up and keep on hand in case one of these disasters happens near their home.
