SUTTON, WV (AP) -

A minor earthquake shook the Sutton area in Braxton County in the central part of West Virginia.

The National Geological Survey's website reported that a magnitude-2.2 earthquake occurred at about 5:20 a.m. Oct 13. The epicenter was 6 miles west-northwest of Sutton.

No damage has been reported.

There is a disclaimer on the United States Geological Survey website about the partial government shutdown stating that due to a lapse in federal funding, the USGS Earthquake Hazards Program has suspended most of its operations, and while it will continue to monitor and report on earthquake activity, the accuracy or timeliness of some earthquake information products and the availability of some of its websites could be affected by the reduced level of operation.
