The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has named goalkeeper Cameron Rivera of Davis & Elkins College the Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week. Rivera guided his team to a shutout G-MAC win over Cedarville to take a percentage points lead in the conference standing.

Cameron Rivera has been named G-MAC Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week after leading his team to a 2-0 win over previously unbeaten Cedarville over the weekend. The win places Davis and Elkins in a tie for first place in the G-MAC and also gives D&E the clearest path to the top overall seed.

In the Senator's only game of the week, Rivera held Cedarville scoreless for the second time this season, their first shutout loss. Rivera made five saves on the afternoon, holding one of the best offenses from scoring. Coming into the week of action, the Yellow Jackets ranked ninth in the nation in scoring offense - posting 3.10 goals a game. In Cedarville's previous four conference games, they had scored 21 goals, scoring at least three time in each game.

Rivera not only kept the Yellow Jackets off the board, he also contributed to the game-winning goal scored by James Pucci in the first half as he was credited with an assist on the goal.

For Rivera, it was his second shutout of the season, as he has allowed seven goals in six starts and nine total games. He has improved to 6-1 on the season with a 0.89 goals against average and has made 22 saves in 709 minutes played.

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has named Jayla McCrary of Alderson Broaddus University the Women's Volleyball Athlete of the Week as she led the Battlers to a perfect 2-0 record and into a three-way tie for first in the G-MAC.

Jayla McCrary has been named G-MAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week, as she helped guide Alderson Broaddus to a 2-1 week overall, and a 2-0 record in conference. The Battlers had wins over Ursuline and Ohio Valley on the road, both in three games. AB improved to 5-1 in the conference and are not in a three-way tie for first place with Cedarville and Kentucky Wesleyan - as AB beat KWC, KWC beat Cedarville, and Cedarville beat AB.

In her three matches, McCrary recorded 35 kills and hit a conference best .554 (35 kills and 4 errors on 56 attempts). Her 3.18 kills per game ranked her fourth in the conference last week. However, in conference only matches, her 3.00 kills per game ranked tied for third, while her hitting percentage in those two matches was an amazing .654.

McCrary now ranks second in the conference with a .311 overall hitting percentage, and a .413 hitting percentage in conference action. She also recorded a pair of solo-blocks and four block assists in conference action this week. In the team's non-conference game against Tiffin, she recorded a team-high 17 kills in the five-setter.
