Glenville State Introduces Charles Marshall as New Women's Hoops Coach

Posted: Updated:

Glenville State Woman's Basketball Head Coach Bunky Harkleroad has officially left Glenville. Harkleroad accepted the head coaching job at Sacramento State in California on Wednesday.

His replacement was introduced on Thursday afternoon.

Charles Marshall was a former assistant under Harkleroad for two seasons at Glenville. Marshall was officially introduced as the new head coach of the Lady Pioneers during a press conference inside the Presidents Auditorium at Glenville State College.

Marshall inherits a team that went 27-4 last year.

Harkleroad had high praises for his team before leaving earlier in the week. With a lot of talent returning, Marshall certainly faces some pressure to succeed right away.

"There is always going to be pressure especially because this is my first head coaching opportunity. Of course I feel the pressure but we have a veteran squad that will ease a lot of my burden," Marshall said.

Marshall said he does not plan to make many changes to the system that became so successful under Harkleroad.

The Lady Pioneers scored 95.4 points a game last year, which was the most in the country in Division-II women's basketball.

Glenville State opens its season on Friday, November 8th at home against Virginia Union University.
