Original story

Several local areas are currently unable to reach their local emergency services by dialing 911 after Frontier Communications experienced issues following an explosion in Pennsboro, Ritchie County.  While the cause of the explosion is unknown, Frontier said it caused significant damage to copper and fiberoptic lines.

In Marion County, residents with the 287 phone exchange should either use your cell phone or you can call 304-367-0911.

The Wallace and Sardis areas in Harrison County are also experiencing the same issue. Residents there should call using their cell phone.

Finally, in Wetzel County, emergency officials ask residents to also use their cell phone or call their local fire department for help.

The departments said Frontier is aware of the problem and is working to fix it.
