West Virginia State Police in Marion County have arrested a Pennsylvania man on drug charges.
State police responded to a single vehicle crash on October 21 near the 142 mile marker. EMS at the scene noticed that the driver, George William Semko, 63 of McDonald, Pennsylvania, smelled heavily of alcohol, according to the criminal complaint.
Semko admitted to drinking three alcoholic beverages while driving from Daytona, Florida and that he had a small suitcase with hydrocodone pills in it, according to the criminal complaint. State police located more than $1,000 in cash and 16.5 hydrocodone pills. Semko told state police that he received them from a friend for his pre-existing back problems and did not have a prescription, according to the criminal complaint.
Also inside the vehicle, state police found a can containing a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine. Semko admitted that he had snorted some of the cocaine, along with half of a hydrocodone pill, said the criminal complaint.
Semko is charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver and is being held in North Central Regional Jail with bail set at $5,000.
