Speakers at the "STaR Symposium" in Morgantown said shale gas could supply the U.S. with natural gas for hundreds of years.

The two-day Science Technology and Research Symposium wrapped up in Morgantown Wednesday, October 23.

This year's theme was called the "Evolution of Energy: From Scarcity to Abundance" and addressed how the energy industry has changed in West Virginia over the years.

"It's an opportunity for our scientists, industry and business people and general public to get together and talk about issues of importance in science and technology here in the Mountain State," said Jan Taylor, of the Division of Science and Research.

The symposiums are held every 18-months by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission's Division of Science and Research.
