MONONGALIA COUNTY -

Ghouls and goblins may be scheduled to head out on Thursday for Halloween. But people got an early start and were already getting into the Halloween spirit at the Mountaineer Country Farmers Market on Sunday.

The Mountaineer Country Farmers Market has a consignment sale each weekend and provides a website for people to still receive produce even if they can't head out to the site. It also held a scarecrow making and pumpkin painting event.

The market said it is looking into a permanent location for a year round consignment sale.

"Farmers can now produce local foods and grow things about ten months out of the year," said Lesa Gay, the Organizer of the Farmers Market. "The farmers markets only last about six months and then once they end the farmers still have lots of produce but they don't have another outlet for it. So we were trying to find another outlet for it."

The Mountaineer Country Farmers Market is open every Thursday through Sunday, until the winter weather no longer permits it. Once that happens, you can start to order produce online.

If you would like to sign up for the Mountaineer Country Farmers Market or learn more head over to it's website.
