The Harrison County Sheriff's Department is investigating the theft of 16 batteries from six school buses parked at the Bristol Bus Terminal on Rt. 50 in Harrison County.
Harrison County Schools Assistant Superintendent Anthony Fratto said the school system had to use every spare bus it has Tuesday morning after the battery theft was discovered. The theft is believed to have happened sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. A construction company's vehicles parked in the vicinity of the school bus terminal also had some batteries and tools stolen, Fratto said, and a Doddridge County Division of Highways Office located nearby was also vandalized.
Fratto said Harrison County Schools has notified area salvage yards to be on the lookout for people trying to sell the batteries.
