WVU Expanding Partnership with Kuwaiti Government

Posted: Updated:

West Virginia University is expanding its partnership with the Kuwaiti government.

For the past 15 years, Kuwaiti students have come to WVU to work toward a dentistry degree.

Students take English courses and get their undergraduate degree before entering the School of Dentistry.

Tuesday, officials signed an agreement to expand the program to the schools of medicine and pharmacy.

"Our health profession schools know what they are getting, in the sense that this is the same path way through which most of our own students come from. So they know what the course work means, what the GPA means, and they are well positioned to have success once they start the health professions degree," said Christopher Martin, of the WVU HSC Global Engagement Office.

The program takes roughly 11 years to finish and is open to 13 students a year.
