STAR CITY -

The Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center hosted a presentation on Wednesday evening titled, "Loud Voices: Breaking the Silence of Domestic Violence."

Anyone in attendance could get up and speak, sing, read poetry or express themselves in any form they wanted.

"We wanted to do something new in our area, to bring people to the table that really probably wouldn't talk about domestic violence any other way," said Nnenna Minimah, an organizer of the event and an employee of the Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center.

Another organizer, Angelynn Creed, said she performed in the event one year, which got her involved with the Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center.

"I got involved in this organization when I auditioned to read and it was an amazing experience, very therapeutic and very empowering. Now I am extremely passionate about serving those who have suffered and I want to break the silence of domestic violence," said Creed.

This was the third year for the event that was held at the Terra Café in Star City.
