A local university commemorated the opening of three new dorms Thursday.

Alderson Broaddus University held a ribbon-cutting for three of its newest residence halls Thursday afternoon.

The new buildings contain suites and apartments for upper-class students at Alderson Broaddus University.

Staff said it's a big sign of the growth at the university.

"It's given us a whole new look and a new pride about ourselves in terms of the facilities we can offer our students, and it's given our campus a facelift," said Bruce Blankenship, of Alderson Broaddus University.

The new buildings are being called Blue, Gold, and University Halls until they're given official names.
