BRIDGEPORT -

The Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Education Center hosted an open house on Saturday.

Both current and future students, as well as their families were able to tour the facilities and learn more about the programs offered.

Guests got to see the flight simulator, the labs, and the hangers.

Tom Stose, Director of the Aerospace Education Center, said the current students enjoy showing their families what they have worked on in the programs.

"We invite the current students to bring their families here too because they spend a great deal of time training here under FAA regulations so we want the parents, wives, mothers, and significant others to see all the hours and commitment these students make towards starting their career in aviation," said Stose.

Stose said many of the graduates get jobs before they are even done with the program.

The Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Education Center offers classes for careers in aviation, maintenance, administration, and professional flight.

On Friday, 10 students graduated from the Aircraft Structures Training Program at the North Central West Virginia Airport.

The center is part of Pierpont Community and Technical College.
