Interstate 79 south has reopened near mile marker 139 after three separate collisions that happened simultaneously shut it down Sunday evening.

West Virginia State Police said the Marion County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to the scene of a multi-vehicle rear-end collision. Shortly thereafter, two additional vehicles collided, as well as three others.

State police said a glare from the sun likely contributed to all three collisions. Multiple drivers reported that their vision was obstructed from the sun as they were traveling up a hill on I-79, troopers said.
