The Harrison County Sheriff's Department is investigating a vehicle accident that happened around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday on Route 20 near the Gregory's Run interchange.

Daniel Lowe, 18, of Wallace was driving a 1997 BMW erratically, speeding, and passing vehicles, according to witness statements provided to the sheriff's department. Lowe was attempting to avoid hitting a passing vehicle head on when he over-corrected, veered to the right and struck a tree. The Lumberport Fire Department extricated Lowe from the car and was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, said Chief Deputy Steve Johnson.

Rt. 20 was closed while Healthnet landed in the area. Possible charges against Lowe are pending.
