More than 20 businesses spoke with investors Wednesday at the second TransTech Energy Business Development Conference in Morgantown.

This year more than seven pitches came from West Virginia companies competing for $65,000 in awards promoting cleaner energy.

Organizers said higher public expectations are important for improving energy.

"If we can get the expectations of the public to be higher for universities, for national labs, for innovators in their basements, garages, to not just innovate but commercialize their innovations. Creating news jobs and companies," said Carl Irwin, of the TransTech Energy Business Development.

The public is welcome to attend the conference tomorrow at the Waterfront Place Hotel. Admission is $80.
