WVU Holds Annual Veterans Day Breakfast

Posted: Updated:

West Virginia University held its annual Veterans Day breakfast Monday morning.

Active military members, students and veterans heard a presentation describing the importance of African Americans in past wars and how they don't get the attention they deserve.

"Each year it's always a great experience. This year they brought a veteran, a Tuskegee Airman veteran in and just to listen to his stories, it made everything worth while. We really look up to these heroes and for them to actually bring one out and talk, it was awesome," Sgt. Darnell Holyfield, a U.S. Airforce Combat Veteran.

The program also discussed the Veterans History Project, which preserves interviews from Veterans at the Library of Congress for future generations.
