2012-13 Record: 4-22
2013 starts a new beginning for the Lady Tigers.
This year the Salem Women enter the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and bring on a new head coach in Rich Marshall.
Marshall is working on erasing the canvas and getting back to basics.
Against G-MAC opponents, the Tigers went 1-6 last year. The Tigers averaged just 53 points per game while surrendering nearly 69. Salem returns top scorer Porcha Davis, who averaged 10.7 points per game one season ago.
The Lady Tigers are picked to finish 7th in the preseason polls.
"He's very big on fundamentals, everybody has to get used to getting fundamentally sound and getting used to that," Salem senior Whitney McCargo said.
"The attitudes have been very positive. We have good numbers now in terms of being able to go 5-on-5 in practice, but it's the little things, the decision making. Utilizing a ball fake, a shot fake, the patience in terms of timing and spacing the floor and trying to create something for a teammate as opposed to themselves," Marshall said.
