The Fairmont State Men's Basketball team is expecting big things this year. Falcons Head Coach Jerrod Calhoun has built the Falcons from the ground up.
FSU welcomes in five freshmen, along with a pair of transfers from Division-I Duquense University.
Not to mention, former WVU point guard and Glenville State assistant Joe Mazzulla joins the FSU coaching staff. Mazzulla played under Calhoun when he served as an assistant to WVU Head Coach Bob Huggins.
Through three games, the Falcons are 2-1 on the young season, and understand expectations are high in the Friendly City.
"We've got a very young team, a very young basketball team that we're excited about," Fairmont State Men's Basketball Head Coach Jerrod Calhoun said. "I think one of the things we're really excited about this year is our depth. Last year we didn't have nearly as much talent on the bench. We had about seven guys. Getting the job so late, was very difficult to scramble and get players. From a depth standpoint, we're extremely excited."
"We're really excited for this upcoming season," Falcons senior forward Brendan Cooper said. "We worked really hard over the summer. We got a lot of new guys that have a lot of potential. We're just really excited. I'm ready to go. I put a lot of work in over the summer in the weight room and in the gym. So I'm definitely ready to go."
