State Police Arrest Mannington Man on Multiple Child Abuse Charges

West Virginia State Police have arrested a Marion County man on multiple child abuse charges.

Sergeant Adam Scott said Charles Dray, 37, of Mannington repeatedly slammed a 3-year-old boy to the ground and hit him repeatedly until his face was completely bruised and his eyes were swollen shut.

The information comes from the victim's 5-year-old brother who witnessed the act. He told police Dray slammed the 5-year-old and his brother's heads together.

Dray confessed to backhanding the child during his arrest.

Dray is being charged with child abuse causing serious injury, malicious assault, child neglect causing serious injury, and child neglect causing risk of injury.

Dray is being held in the North Central Regional Jail with bail set at $2 million.
