St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon Wears Purple to Support Pancreatic Cancer Awareness

Saint Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon is going purple with a purpose.

Employees are wearing purple for National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month.

More than five million people in the U.S. have Alzheimer's, and more than 10 million are caring for a loved one with the disease.

The hospital said it has a tremendous impact on society, but people should know there's support out there.

"They do recognize the needs of the families in particular. So its pretty impressive to see how much the staff supports family members and supports this process day in and day out," said Sue Johnson Phillippi, of St. Joseph's Hospital.

The hospital has a support group that meets the last Thursday of each month.
