A 14-year-old Harrison County student died suddenly on Saturday, two weeks after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder.

Emily McIntire was in 8th grade at Bridgeport Middle School.

Harrison County BOE President Mike Queen said McIntire passed away Saturday at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh as she was awaiting a liver transplant. Queen said she had been flown there from Ruby Memorial Hospital last week.

He said counselors will be on hand at Bridgeport Middle School once students return to class next Monday but encourages anyone needing assistance sooner to contact the school's principal.

A funeral service for McIntire will be held later this week, according to the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home's website.

Another Harrison County student, Locia N. Wiant, 16, passed away over the weekend following a car accident. Wiant was a student at South Harrison High School. Queen said counselors will also be on hand at the school next week.
