SHINNSTON -

The city of Shinnston hosted its annual Turkey Trot 5K on Thursday morning.

Over 650 runners took the starting line for the 5th annual race.

The top three finishers were David McCollam, T.J. Able, and Josh Mason.

McCollam finished the race in just under 16 minutes.

All of the proceeds from the race will benefit a good cause.

"The race benefits the Marie Gaston Scholarship Fund and that's used for Harrison County youth who come to 4 H camp at Jackson's Mill in the summer. It's given away as partial scholarships and full scholarships. We've used it to purchase activities and equipment that can be used for camp," said Jason Talkington, one of the race directors.

After the race there were refreshments including fruit, water, and homemade hot chocolate.

There were also games for the kids, and a Gobble Wobble race for the little ones.

Snowbird even made an appearance at the race and WBOY's Jason Parrish ran the 5K.
