FAIRMONT -

The 20th Annual Holiday History Home Tour was held in Marion County on Saturday.

The Marion County Historical Society hosts the event each year.

Community members can go into as many homes on the tour as they want for a fee of $16. Many of the locations are privately owned homes that provide historical information to guests each year.

This year's homes included the A. G. Martin house that was built by Arthur Martin in 1911. He was the mayor or Fairmont and a successful business man in the community. There is also the Country Corner that was built around 1900, the Huchinson House on Benoni Avenue and Gatherings, or the People's Temple, built in the late 1800s.

There were nine total houses featured in this historic tour.

"We do it because it gets people to see some of the beautiful homes that we have, and that used to be beautiful also. And people are opening their doors one time a year for us to do this," said Dora Kay Grubb. And plus this is our biggest fundraiser. We're always excited about the new houses that we get on the tour every year."

The tour is each year the Saturday after Thanksgiving and new homes are added every time the event is held.

The historical society is opened six days a week.
