The Harrison County Sheriff's Department is investigating a vehicle crash that happened near mile marker 109 on Interstate 79 north bound Thursday at approximately 5:15 a.m.

Harrison County Sheriff Albert Marano said a Volkswagen driven by Shawn M. Sexton, 36 of Washington, Pa. crashed into a median cable barrier and came to a stop in the left lane. A water truck avoided crashing into the Volkswagen by moving into the right hand lane. A UPS Freight carrier traveling with a double trailer rear ended the water truck in the right lane. The UPS truck careened into the guard rail on the right shoulder, where it came to a stop, said Sheriff Marano.

Two people were transported to United Hospital Center by Anmoore EMS, including Sexton and the water truck driver, identified as John Judy Jr., 39 of New Columbia, PA.

The driver of the UPS truck, Jeffrey A. Dunham, 44 of Charleston, was uninjured.

The road was closed for approximately two hours while crews cleared the scene.
