Clarksburg City Council met Thursday night to discuss ‘The Robinson Grand Theater', also known as the ‘Rose Garden Theater', that the city plans to acquire.

West Virginia University's Board of Governors approved a summer deadline for selecting the university's 24th president on Thursday, Dec. 5.

In its fourth emergency meeting in a month, the board drew out a timeline for the selection, culminating with final approval by the Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC) on June 5, 2014.

Board members also reached a decision on an interim leader for the university, but did not reveal the candidate's name during Thursday's meeting. They authorized the chair James Dailey to "negotiate to complete personnel actions" discussed in executive session, regarding the choice of an interim leader for WVU.

The interim president will not be eligible for the permanent position, but will serve as an advisor to the search committee, which will be formed by the board Jan. 6.

The board's plan calls for first a collection of the "qualities and characteristics" stakeholders would like to see in the new president. The national posting will be published January 10, and any applications or nominations are due by Feb. 21.

The selection committee's top candidates will then visit Morgantown for on-campus interviews beginning April 26.

Both the interim president candidate and selection process must be approved by the HEPC, which plans to discuss the matter at its regular meeting Friday.
