Bridgeport Fire Chief Announces Retirement after 30 Plus Years Serving City

BRIDGEPORT -

After more than 30 years of serving his community a local fire chief is retiring.

Chuck Feathers has held his title as Bridgeport Fire Chief for almost 10 years.

Now he said he's ready to relax and try new things.

He said he wants to spend time with his family, take a vacation, and teach his grand children to fish.

Feathers said he's excited for the time off but will miss serving the city of Bridgeport.

"I've really enjoyed being a fireman. Our job is to go out and help people and usually someone is having a bad day whenever we're called. To be able to go out and help and to make a difference has just been so gratifying throughout the years," said Feathers.

Feathers' retirement will begin January 30th, and the search for his replacement is underway by the city.
