Meadowbrook Mall Plans Santa Visits for Children with Special Needs

BRIDGEPORT -

Santa Claus will be in the Meadowbrook Mall every day until Christmas.

Every day children line up to tell Santa what they want for Christmas.

The mall is giving children with special needs or sensory disorders the chance to see Santa on two separate days without the distraction of other children.

Marketing Director Robin Urquhart said the mall creates a relaxing atmosphere for the children.

"What we try to do is make the atmosphere a little less intimidating. If you come to a shopping center on a Saturday in December chances are it will be very noisy, very bright, and just a lot of distractions. We try to cut that back and make it comfortable for the families," Urquhart explained.

Urquhart said the lights are dimmed and the atmosphere is made a little more relaxed.

This is the third year for the special Santa visits.

They will be held both Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
