WVU Co-Hosts Second Annual Energy Forum

Posted: Updated:

West Virginia is the second largest producer of coal and in the top ten of producers in natural gas, and with that comes a lot of responsibility for energy efficiency and regulations that go along with it.

WVU co-hosted the second annual Energy Forum with Representative David McKinley.

The panel of WVU researchers, coal and natural gas leaders, and environmental representatives discussed a number of topics, including the development of a national energy policy.

"It affects all of our lives, not only in the business community, but also for everyone on Main Street. They are dealing with what their utility bills are going to cost. And are we considering that cost, that impact, it has on individual families," said McKinley.

There was representation of all sectors including coal, natural gas, economists, and environmentalists.
