Walmart, Salvation Army Partner In 'Fill The Truck' Toy Drive

Posted: Updated:

Walmart and the Salvation Army have partnered up for the second annual 'Fill the Truck' Toy Drive.

It aims to bring hundreds of thousands of toys to children in need across the country.

The 'Fill the Truck' Toy Drive began on November 29 and will continue until Saturday, December 15th.

There are 1,600 stores across the country are participating, including the Walmart in Marion County.

"Fill the truck came as an initiative of Walmart to help us," said Lt. Danitza Porras, Salvation Army. "So they are collecting toys for us. We had a toy drive on December 7th. Since Black Friday through December 15th there are boxes, a little truck in front of the store and the entrance. People can drop toys off there for the children."

Collection bins will also be located inside 3,500 Walmart stores during the entire three-week period.

You can participate by dropping off a new, unwrapped toy at the trucks or in the bins in your local Walmart.

"The holidays are a time for gifting, and a time for giving," said Scott McCall, senior vice president of toys and seasonal at Walmart U.S. "We think every child should have something under their Christmas tree. Our hope is that the Fill the Truck toy drive will help bring holiday cheer to hundreds of thousands of children across the country."

Walmart Foundation also donates $1 million to The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign.
