William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital Patients Display Artwork

Posted: Updated:

The William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital hosted a patient art exhibit on Friday.

Paintings, drawings, and other artwork were on display and for sale.

The sale opened at 9:30 a.m. and most pieces were sold by 11 a.m. with proceeds going to the artists.

One patient said painting and expressing himself is therapeutic.

"It really creates an outlet. Sometimes you can go in there and paint and release feelings and sort of just get involved in it. Whatever is going on in your day you can always put in on the painting and make people smile, that's what I like," said Jeremy Carter, a patient at the William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital.

Patients also put together a book of poems that was available.

Representatives from the hospital said the patients get to paint throughout the year.

They could enter as many pieces as they wished into the show.
